Michael Matt on Traditional Catholics Barred From St. Peter’s Basilica
Michael Matt coming to you from Rome, from the Conciliatzione, right outside the
Basilica of St. Peter's.
Some more on Pontifical Pilgrimage. It's coming up behind us here.
The spirit is actually very good. Um, we've been here before.
Um,
I think that there... obviously, there's been a pall cast over the entire
event,
since they will not be allowed. Vatican police will stop them from going
into St.
Peter's Basilica, even though last year there
was an LGBT pilgrimage that was
allowed in. Go figure. But I think it's really important to
remember, we've been
here before, and in a way, this is where 1988 ends.
Um, so many things have been done over the
years to try to lure everybody back into
strict compliance with this, with the revolution, uh,
the spirit of the council.
I think after July 1st, it became obvious
that that's not gonna happen, that there
is going to be resistance. There is going to be a Catholic
counterrevolution no
matter what, as there always has been.
It's that now they're basically throwing everybody out, in my opinion.
Um, I don't know how I could come to any other
conclusion.
These are very beautiful, wonderful people.
They're not bomb throwers.
They're good, solid Catholics. And these are the people that
ultimately, uh, like you can hear them singing now,
they're not leaving the church.
They're not gonna be daunted by this.
The old faith is gonna survive and ultimately, when the restoration
comes, you're gonna have these folks are gonna be the ones who will stand with
the
Holy Father, who will begin to bring Catholic sense,
the, the sensus catholicus
back to the church. So these are the loyal Catholics.
These are the ones who are standing on the wall.
Someday, this is going to happen because God will
save His church.
Someday, it'll be these people who the Pope will
rely on.
The traditional Catholics throughout the whole world is what they represent.
The Pope will rely on them. Standing on the wall
is his most loyal sons and
daughters who never gave up on the faith in the middle of the new world order, in
the middle of all the chaos that's coming.
So there's no reason to be particularly discouraged or depressed
over this.
I grew up with it. We've been here before. We know what to do.
But this is definitely, um, an unbelievable statement on the part of
the Vatican
now. We're not talking even about the Pope,
but on the part of the Vatican.
The Pope's been in surgery. Who knows how and why this happened,
why they're barred
at the door.
But this is, on the part of the Vatican, a massive blunder because the whole world
can now see docility, obedience is not being rewarded at all.
It's being cast out. It's being excommunicated just like the
Society of St. Pius X.
Literally being thrown out, excommunicated from the Basilica of St.
Peter, which means we're being forced to not
communicate with the Catholics
who are in the church, in this case, symbolically in the Basilica of St. Peter.
Huge moment, I think, in history, but I would stress the spirit is
actually very good. I'm gonna join these folks up here, and
if they throw us in
jail or whatever they're gonna do, who cares? It's the least we can do.
The thing that's happened, you can feel it already.
The traditional Catholic movement has unified very strongly, um,
now, I think, behind this idea that persecution is here.
So that's where it is.
Keep your... keep, keep praying. Don't lose hope.
