Zionism and Communism Connection
Zionism and communism are intrinsically connected through a man named Moses Hess.
Hess was the grandfather of Zionism and a mentor to Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels,
who wrote the Communist Manifesto. He actually also drafted something called
the Communist Confession, which was later used to influence the Communist Manifesto.
He was also racist. In his book, Roman Jerusalem, he argued that racial struggles
were fundamental drivers of human history, more so than the class struggle, and that
German nationalism needed to be dismantled while simultaneously advocating for a Jewish
national homeland in Palestine. He also more or less predicted the Holocaust.
In defense of the communists, Engels and Marx did split ways with him.
