Team Performance Analysis and Future Strategies
Now that you've had some time to kind of process, what conclusions have you and the
rest of the front office come to about what you can do differently to make
sure that you don't end up in a situation like this next year?
Yeah. I th- I think as, as we reflected on
how the start of the season
went the way it did,
we and I made a number of decisions that
created, uh, the potential for almost an, like, an uncapped
downside scenario. Um,
we had a lot of change. We've talked about that, um...
We've talked about that before.
Um,
I think change in New York is probably different than change, uh,
in other markets.
Uh, we lived that.
I think in addition to that change,
um,
we had certain elements of our roster that didn't have enough flexibility,
so that
when we had underperformance, it made it very difficult for
us to make in-season, on-the-fly adjustments.
We got hit with, with all of those, um, elements and,
and some injury issues, um,
uh, predominantly over the first half of the
season.
Um, and I think combining all of that,
uh, put us in a spot where
we, we had this tough stretch, and then we weren't able, both
from a roster construction perspective and from an internal cohesion and
continuity perspective, we weren't able to get ourselves out of
it, um,
the way we should have or could have or, or, um, in a way that would have
allowed us
to frankly have a more productive,
um, entirety of the season.
