Discussion on War and Rambo's Impact
Does Rambo represent
a part of like your worldview at that point as well?
It did
I mean, y-
It did and now I realize all war is futile.
It's stupid. It's a, it's a, um, mechanism
to make tons of money for the war department and
manufacturers and, and these kids just going out there into a
gristmill being chopped up and no...
And then when they come back with no arms, "Oh, sorry, you're on your own."
I hate it.
I hate it. And I, I'm, I'm bitterly opposed to it,
but at one time
I was truly gung ho. Really gung ho
Hmm.
And I don't know if I was just, um,
trying to go against the current. You know, the, th- in Hollywood there's a
certain dynamic as you know.
But I, I, again, I admit it was,
I think it was just naiveté really, 'cause I, I read a
lot, especially after First Blood,
and I go, "Wow, this is brutal. This is
horrible." There's no glory in war. None.
None. Just-

It's, it's, it's, um, look, if you're, if you're under attack,
of course you have to defend yourself.
But I don't wanna get into politics now, but all wars
basically
destroy both sides. I mean, it, it really creates this
horrible
history and, you know, a lot of people don't get over it.
They just-
Hmm
... don't. It, it, it's grudges are held and,
you know,
continents are des- I mean, countries are destroyed and lines are
redrawn. For what though?
