Analysis of October 7th Attacks in Israel
There's a lot we know about the horrific attacks on October 7th,
2023, but there is one key question we don't
know the
answer to. We do know it was the deadliest attack in Israel's
78-year history. We know Hamas and others from Gaza crossed into
Israel and killed innocents, took hostages, committed war crimes,
and that's
according to Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International,
the International Criminal
Court.
But three years on from that brutal attack, the question
that remains
completely unanswered, and frankly unasked, is how many
people on October 7th were killed not by Hamas
or other Palestinian
armed groups,
but by Israel?
For three years, a lot of people have tried to dismiss any
kind of discussion along
these lines as a pro-Hamas conspiracy theory or even a blood
libel against the Jewish state. Here in the West, the only
media outlets that have really covered this very controversial topic have been on
the fringes, the likes of Electronic Intifada,
The Grayzone,
Mondoweiss, Middle East Eye. It's really kind of
outrageous that mainstream Western media outlets have totally ignored this question
when the truth is that the Israeli media has not.
You might think this startling admission from the former Israeli defense minister,
who is wanted on charges of war crimes by the ICC,
might have grabbed headlines across the West.
Yet The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN, the BBC,
and the vast,
vast majority of mainstream media outlets across the West
ignored Gallant's remarks. As a study by the British press watchdog
Media Lens concluded at the time, the former defense minister's
admission was buried by major UK mainstream
media as well as the wider Western media.
So on this third anniversary of the October 7th attacks, let us here
at Zeteo discuss what exactly is the Hannibal
Directive and where did it come from?
How and why was it activated three years ago on the Israeli-Gaza border,
as Gallant admitted it was? And how many Israelis were killed by
Israel as a result of it on October 7th?
