Analysis of OutKast's Hey Ya Lyrics
Y'all, this is the part that really be making me mad about y'all
sometimes.
Like, when I'm searching for God's name, like, this is what I hear.
This is what I see. This is Hey Ya by OutKast,
André three thousand.
Look, there's a casket. He's at a funeral,
and you don't even realize it.
And you gotta understand these musicians sign contracts and stuff to where they
can't really just tell you the truth.
And I'm telling you, he is screaming God's name in this song,
almost like an indigenous American, like a Native American.
Just look, look, look.
I'm trying to tell y'all. Y'all need to pay attention because you
don't even pick
things up.
Right? You think it's a concert, but it's a funeral.
Listen.
Hey, y'all. Listen to how he say that.
So, so, so when I say he is saying God's name, right?
And I just random-- I didn't read that. I didn't see that. No one told me this.
This is what I picked up in spirit, that he's screaming God's name.
Then you learn that this man left rap, made a flute
album. Look at his flute album, and literally look at what
he called his songs on the flute album.
And people literally say they see André three thousand just walking around playing
the flute.
In this song, he literally says,
"You don't want to listen.
You just wanna dance."
Don't play with me. He is literally bellowing out,
"Hey, y'all." And if you were play it backwards, you are
giving God's name.
And I think you have to say that name a certain amount of times,
but be careful.
Be careful
saying it a certain amount of times because you might get what you ask for
