Mountain Biker's Heart Health Journey
Um, went for a mountain bike ride. I'm having this issue.
You know, recently I did read that there were some young men having
issues after
the vaccine. I don't know if that's what this could be.
And that was a really big mistake because that immediately just, you know, turned
off the guy, um, who was a nurse practitioner,
and he essentially was like,
"This, this guy's crazy. I don't wanna deal with this."
And so I was in the
hospital for a long time, in the waiting room for I think three
hours.
Finally got pulled back. They did a EKG, um, and just looked at my heart.
They're like, "It seems pretty normal."
And then they did troponin levels, and I
had an elevated troponin, which is a marker for heart inflammation.
But they were basically saying, "Well, if you rode your mountain bike, it's
possible that your troponin is elevated from that,
and so I'm not gonna worry about it." And so they gave me a big
anti-inflammatory
shot and essentially monitored me for a bit.
The troponin started to trend downward a bit after the anti-inflammatory shot,
and then they're like, "All right.
You're free to go." Um, and they didn't really set me up with much
continuing
care 'cause again, I think they thought it
was just a massive anxiety attack.
And then I was in bed rest for about three days after that.
Finally kind of went out to go to the grocery store, had another big cramp and
chest pain, and my heart ran away again.
Went to the hospital a second time to a different hospital, and they took me a lot
more seriously and finally got me into a cardiologist where I was diagnosed with,
um, pericarditis, so inflammation of the liner of the heart
