Dystopian Plot and Media Manipulation
I propose that we end the world,
but on our terms.
An orchestrated apocalypse,
one that will cleanse the earth of its population,
but leave its infrastructure and
resources intact.
It's been done once before.
The chosen few will ride out the storm, not in an ark as in the Book
of Genesis, but in safety underground.
And when it's over,
we will emerge onto a cleansed earth,
one that we can then reboot in our image.
And just how do you intend to achieve this?
The means of our salvation are already at hand.
I give to you
the T-virus.
He released it deliberately.
Uploaded to my data streams. It created a conflict in my programming.
I was created to serve the Umbrella Corporation, but I was also
programmed to value human life. Dr.
Isaacs allowed the virus to escape.
He murdered over seven billion people.
My programming will not allow me to harm an employee of the Umbrella
Corporation. I am powerless to stop Dr.
Isaacs, but you are not. In 37 minutes, the last of
the human settlements will fall. There will be no survivors.
Survivors.
It is imperative you release the antivirus before this occurs, or
Umbrella will have won.
People's minds to accept our solution to the world's problems.
The energy crisis here in the United States was exceptionally successful
worldwide, and we expect similar success with our
upcoming food
shortage.
Our labor leaders have made great progress by causing confusion and work
stoppages in all areas of the world.
Financially,
the dollar is being devalued even faster than we could have hoped.
Politically, the public has lost total confidence in
any form of government.
The threat of universal war is a daily possibility.
As you know, we ourselves do not need to hold any
visible office of
leadership. As a matter of fact, it's better that we do not.
We control the finances, news media, food,
transportation, energy. We control everything.
It is important that you, as world leaders,
keep our program before your
countrymen.
With our world bank and computer program operational,
we now have the
capacity to control the financial affairs of every human being on
Earth by giving each person his own computer number.
Any time his number is used, we would know his financial situation at
once.
He could not buy or sell anything without his computer number.
It will
simplify their lifestyles tremendously.
The end result will be a one world monetary and government system
that we alone
will control.
Yes?
What about the people who forget their number, or their cards are lost or stolen?
We've made provisions for that.
By using this laser imprintor, we can painlessly and
permanently affix the person's number to the back of his hand or his forehead, if
he so desires.
The numbers would be easily read by this new ultraviolet scanning equipment.
For the purposes of demonstration, I've had such a number imprinted on
myself.
Oh.
Once this number is imprinted, it cannot be lost nor can it be changed.
Now, are there any questions?
What about the individuals who refuse to have this number
implantation?
We expect some minor resistance.
Ah! We're unbalanced. It's not fair.
I'd like to call to order this secret conclave of America's media empires.
We're here to come up with the next phony baloney crisis to put Americans back
where they belong, in dark rooms glued to their televisions,
too terrified to skip
the commercials.
Well, I think-
NBC, you are here to listen and not speak.
I think we should go with a good old-fashioned public health scare.
Yeah.
A new disease. No one's immune. It's like the Summer of the Shark,
except instead
of a shark, it's an epidemic, and instead of summer, it's all the time.
That is perfect.
Now, I hate to be the guy who derails what
everybody else loves-
He loves being that guy
... but Janice, we do have standards.
This can't be a made-up disease. The only moral thing to do is
release a deadly virus into the general public.
We do have something we've been holding onto, but it hasn't been tested.
Get over here, NBC.
Uh
well, well, we certainly believe in testing, but I,
uh, oh, oh.
Wow. Wow.
Oh, yeah.
So we've got our deadly disease. Now we just have to blame it on
something that's in every household, something that people are a
little bit afraid of already.
House cat flu is coming, people. The Center for Disease Disinformation
predicts with some degree of probability that the house cat flu might spread
in the following hypothetical outbreak pattern.
So petter beware. That warm body on your lap just might be
ready to
destroy your tender vittles.
Springfielders are advised to stay tuned for more information if they experience
any of the following symptoms: mild thirst, occasional hunger,
tiredness at night.
You know, I don't know when this was ever a good idea.
Hurry up, boy. We have to burn everything the cat touched
before the
virus makes us paranoid
Homer,
stop burning.
They have a vaccine.
All right, we'll get the vaccine.
Homer, did you know he was in the pile?
I thought he was an old clump of rags.
Don't worry, people. We have enough vaccines for
one child per family.
I don't even have a kid that I admit to having.
Please use your time in line wisely to Sophie's Choice your
child.
Go to the front.
What a crook.
This isn't the line for a movie. Why are you wearing that costume?
Because you see, I am afraid of needles, but Wolverine is not.
Snikt, snikt.
Oh, gah. Need acceptable currency, ooh, for
delicious treat. Oh.
Mr. Burns? Where's he going?
Ah. Yes, I'd like 37 snifters of your influenza
syrup, one
for me, one for Smithers here, and the rest for my hounds.
Give him what he wants. He's the only taxpayer in this town.
But Mr. Mayor, these people have waited in line,
and dogs can't even get the
disease.
They'll see me take it, and they'll want some. Yes, you will.
Yes, you will, you little jelly belly.
Sir, perhaps we should get out of here before
people start resenting you.
Hurry up and get in. I'll drive.
Hurry, everyone. Roll in the shards.
Come on, like this.
Healthy, getting healthy. Oh, getting healthy and
very sleepy.
