Using Chicken Manure for Fuel
It can run it from a gas made from chicken manure, methane gas, which is natural
gas.
Now, how do you do this?
Well, simply by putting the manure into a, an airtight
container
and, uh, bringing it up to about seventy degrees
Fahrenheit
and, uh, leaving it for a few days,
which, uh, the
bacteria will, will begin to act and, uh, methane gas
will be, be produced from the manure.
Now, you might expect to have gas bags and bottles and contraptions all over a
car
that's gonna run on manure, but
there isn't anything like that. Now, what do you actually have in here to make
it
work?
Well, I have a bottle of gas in the boot
and I connect it up to an
autogas converter fitted here.
That's just that little thing there?
Yeah, uh, which automatically feeds the gas into the
engine.
Does it really work? I mean, is it as good as petrol?
Oh, it's better than petrol, more powerful than petrol.
But it's clean. It's, uh, uh, it's completely pollution free.
Can you start the engine so we can hear it?
Yeah,
sure.
How's that?
Well, sounds all right. How far have you driven on this stuff?
Oh, for
about the past fourteen years.
How much does it cost to convert a car to run on chicken manure?
Uh, seven pounds 10 for the converter.
That's all?
Yes, plus supply.
What about mileage? How many miles per chicken do you get on
this stuff?
Well, I don't know, uh, exactly how many per chicken, but, uh,
you get
about, uh,
on about 100 weight of manure, well, quarter, half hundred weight of manure,
you'll, you'll get equivalent of around 10 gallons
of petrol.
