Improving Speaking Skills Through Reading
If you mumble, stutter, skip over your words, or repeat the same
words like "like" and "bro," this video is for you.
You need to learn how to speak or repair your speaking 'cause you already
know how
to speak. But because of social anxiety
and because you're thinking too much, you
can't get your words out appropriately.
And due to social media and video games, meaning you're doom scrolling or playing
too much Call of Duty, you can't think appropriately anymore.
So we need to get this back together.
What you're gonna do is you're gonna start reading
consistently.
You can't read one single book and repair your speaking.
You just have to read more consistently because what'll happen
is as you're reading
the book, the sentences and the paragraphs that go,
that go through your head, it's
gonna teach you how to speak it more appropriately.
'Cause what'll happen is you won't even notice it.
Once you're standing in front of somebody, your words will come out more fluidly
just from reading more often. That's the thing.
So once you start doing this probably five, ten, fifteen minutes a day, and you
also write. So what that means is you sit down,
you either write your thoughts, you
write about what you think about what you're reading,
or maybe you write down some
sort of strategy about-- for something that you're trying to build.
You gotta also get your thoughts from within your head onto a piece of paper.
Now, you may think this is, like, not necessary.
Trust me, you'll notice it later on. It's necessary.
So you start doing reading, and you start doing writing,
and you have less social
media and less video games. And then over time, what you'll notice
is your speaking
will be much more concise, and you'll be much more confident on what
you wanna say.
Now, here's the thing. I'm only saying this because I know what
it's like when you
have social anxiety or when you can't get your words out
appropriately.
So then you see somebody where it's like they're trying to get their point out, but
they can't, and they just stop. Like, they're frozen/paralyzed because they're
like, "Uh, I feel really nervous/I don't know how to
get this out appropriately.
I don't know how to word myself, so now I gotta stop.
Now the person's looking at me," and then the whole conversation just falls
apart.
Yeah, I don't want that to happen to you.
So I want you to have some confidence and some integrity,
and the only way you can
do that is through reading and through writing. Fix it.
