Reflections on Fatherhood and Love
Becoming a father is, without question, the most important, profound thing
that's ever happened to me and will be the most important role I
play.
I did say that.
You did say that to AP Entertainment. It's, it's the most difficult thing,
right?
But the most-
Yeah
... rewarding, right?
Yeah. It's, it's, it's also, like,
I feel it's just... I've felt it almost instantaneously.
Um,
it was just the profound privilege and honor of being
somebody's father.
Mm.
I think of my dad
and everything I learned from him and everything he taught me and everyth-
and
every thi- e- all the ways
th- that he lived, actually. You realize this when you get older.
That, that sometimes it's just the way he was
and, and the showing up-
Mm
... and, and the being there and how important that is.
Yeah.
And all you wanna do is, is be that for your own children.
Yeah.
Um,
is to be a, to introduce them to the world and,
you know, it's our, it's our privilege to l- to, to begin,
uh, you know, with any luck, we won't be here
for the end of their lives, but we're here for the beginning.
Yeah.
Uh, as in if things happen the right way
around.
Yes. Yeah.
And you, and you... And it's, and it's our,
it's our responsibility to sort of set
them up so that they can, they can have happy and meaningful
lives. And-
Yeah
... I also just wasn't prepared for the depth
of the love I feel.
It's, it's-
I know. It's a bit-- It's, it's a lot, isn't it?
It opens your h- it opens your chest in, in-
Yeah
... in a different way. Yeah.
Uh, no, it's incredible.
An-as, uh, another kind of love. A love like no other, I should say.
