Iraqi Biology Teacher Responds to Backlash Over Her Niqab

So all this attacking and smearing is happening to me because I'm a teacher who wears a niqab. Of course, I'm a sixth- year science- track biology teacher. I posted a lecture on YouTube, a free lecture for sixth- year students with an explanation of the curriculum.

Then I was shocked to find myself under attack, with a smear campaign against me and my niqab.

Of course, they even went so far as to accuse me of terrorism and extremism because I wear a niqab, though of course, I have nothing to do with any of that.

I'm teaching a science subject, providing science lessons, helping students, making their exams easier, and I have nothing to do with terrorism or anything else.

My father is a military man, and two of my uncles are martyrs.

They gave their lives and blood in service of Iraq, so why is this smear campaign being waged against me, and why am I being accused? All I did was give a free lecture explaining the students' curriculum for the sixth year. Thanks to God, the lecture reached 140,000 views in two days,

to the point that it started trending Across the Arab world, not just in Iraq.

There are even people from other countries who left positive comments for me, even professors at Egyptian universities praising the way I explained things.

But my own countrymen unfortunately, attacked me.

This whole smear campaign against me happened because they know I could have a positive influence on the next generations in some way, and they don't want that.

They only want silly and negative things to influence this generation and this society.

I'm grateful to everyone who supported me, stood by me, and defended me without my asking them to. That alone is enough for me, I swear to God.

And in the end, I say, “If you feel no shame, do as you wish.”
