Interview with Vice President on Spirituality
Hello everybody, it's Bishop Barron. I'm standing here outside of the vice president's residence in Washington.
The vice president was gracious enough to give us permission to come here to interview him for a special edition of Bishop Barron Presents.
I was talking to him about his new book called Communion, which is a spiritual autobiography.
It's about politics and economics and culture and lots of things.
things. We had a great conversation. We were in the, it was called the pool house,
it's a house kind of adjacent off the back of this house, and he was very
forthcoming. We talked about
what I call the Augustinian arc of his story. You know, this kind of kid from the backwoods who's
driven by great ambition, rises to high places, but also discovers the need for God. And we talked a
lot about culture and about religion. Talk about America and its groundedness in spiritual values
and the loss of that.
in a lot of the contemporary culture,
the falling away from religion
and the danger that's posed to our politics.
We talked about Martin Luther King
and about Lincoln and Jefferson and company.
Wide-ranging conversation,
we covered those kind of high political economic matters,
but also
his own prayer life, what it's like to live his life as a Catholic.
He asked even for recommendations about how better to pray.
So it was a wonderful, rich conversation,
and it'll be coming out soon for Bishop Aaron Presents, so
keep your eye open for it, and God bless you.
you
