Turning Point USA's Rise in Popularity
And I just, I know exactly what Charlie'd be saying
right now.
Have you lost your mind?
Yep.
Yep.
Um, it's, it's crazy. Well, let, let's, let's go back, um,
and talk about what do you think, and I'll pardon the pun,
was the turning point for Charlie's organization when it just blew up
and became one of the more prominent organizations in the country?
Um,
you want, you want me to know, tell you what, what was the point?
Well, yeah, what was the, what was really kind of the turning point for
Turning
Point when they went from being a growing organization to where one
day it just seems like it exploded? And I noticed that.
Well,
I, I will tell you this, um, I, I was there when it happened.
Um, they were with me when it happened, and I, I mean, as
much as I don't like it, I'll s- it...
When Kanye West tweeted that he liked the way Candace Owens
thinks,
um, the, the company exploded, and that's, that's
just a fact. Um, that was, I believe, in
2019,
and, uh, they were with me helping me on a
gubernatorial race in
Idaho, and he tweeted that two days before, and then they
flew down to LA to be- meet with Kanye West.
Because what happened then was Turning Point was doing great.
It was just this private conservative organization, and they had some donors,
and they were moving along great, and they were tweeting every day.
Candace was tweeting every day. She'd been with the company I think maybe
a year or
two.
And then when Kanye West tweeted that,
"I like the way Candace Owens thinks,"
it went kind of global.
It went, it brought in Hollywood. It brought in,
like, celebrities, and then all of a sudden everybody
was like,
"Who's Candace Owens? Who's Charlie Kirk?
Who's Turning Point?" So I, I gotta be honest with you, it kind of
went from Turning Point USA to Turning Point USA,
and Candace Owens, and Charlie Kirk.
And so I do give, as much as I don't care for Candace Owens
right now,
I do give credit where credit is due.
And when he brought on Candace, and then she brought in a lot of
attention,
and she was great for a, a long time.
You know, she had a lot of great things to say
and do, and she opened Blexit,
and she, she caused a lot of, a lot of attention, and
then a lot more donors came in, a lot more donors.
So, um-
You, you know what you just made me realize?
What?
I remember when the Pre- when President Trump had Kanye West to the
White
House,
and I, and I scratched my head and I said, "I, I don't know-
Yep
... if it's a good idea to bring someone who's
gonna drop F-bombs on camera."
And now what you're explaining here, now it makes perfect sense to me.
Yes. Yes. And see, those are the things I think people forget.
And, you know, Candace did bring a lot of attention and,
and the
fact that, you know, it's not that we would have even wanted Kanye West,
but he did
take it to a global platform.
Yeah.
He just did. I mean, all of a sudden Charlie Kirk
and Candace Owens were in
literally, like,
um,
like TMZ. They were on all of a sudden, like, pop platforms- ...
which, uh, brought in a hu- not that they would have even wanted that,
but it
brought in a huge audience, and Charlie knew that.
Charlie knew the exposure, and any exposure is good exposure.
And so that's when Turning Point kind of exploded, was like in 2020,
2021, it just went from, like, a certain amount of million
to twice what they were doing.
And to their credit, to Turning Point's credit,
they ran with it.
I mean, they upped their game from, um, what they were
advertising, the way they did their memes, the way they did their social media.
So they, to their credit, they actually went with it.
And the other thing I will co- compliment Turning Point on at
that time too, and
even now, um, is
they stayed with the times. They really updated their social
medias like every single day. They put out their mailing list
