Power and Water Outages in Donetsk: A Resident’s Account

The authorities here, the so-called Donetsk People's Republic, are conducting a horrific social experiment on the republic's residents, preparing them for another wave of mobilization and making civilian life so unbearable that, if mobilized, people would run off to war themselves as a way to escape the nightmare

that awaits them right here in the city.

For example, I live in Donetsk, and here, in just t— two days, they've cut the power five or six times.

So yesterday, the power was on for probably only about eight hours total.

The day before, it was about ten hours too.

Likewise, we had no water for half the day yesterday and today.

I live in an area that's down in a low-lying spot, so our water situation is still relatively good.

In other words, they supply it every day.

But in some areas, up on higher ground, in Donetsk and especially Makiivka, there…
