Middle East Politics and Humanitarian Issues
The government in Türkiye,
one has to be realistic, has no animosity towards the Israeli
regime.
They are willing to help the Saudis
kill the besieged people of Yemen, but they're not willing to help the people
of
Gaza. The same is true with Egypt. They control the
border of Gaza, and they allowed the
Sisi, President Sisi, allowed
the Israelis to impose a starvation siege on Gaza
for so long. And people across the world were begging
the Egyptian government to open
the gates to Gaza,
and he refused. Yet he's willing to help
with the war against the people of Yemen, a war that
he and Erdogan and others
assisted from the very beginning
with the Saudi genocidal attack on that country
in 2015.
These countries were all on board with the assault on Yemen, and they
were supportive of the genocide
in that country.
Of course, after Saudi Arabia imposed a blockade
or a siege on Qatar, Türkiye and Qatar tilted
away. But until then, there was a universal
consensus.
So
one shouldn't be naive. The empire
has its representatives, and the burden of the empire is on the
shoulders of those allies. We saw Trump say
that he would like to see Erdogan help with
Saudi Arabia. And there's no doubt that in the case of
Egypt, there is a
direct communication with the United States.
And of course, there is nothing that any of these entities will do for
Gaza. We recall
how these countries all forced
Hamas to accept an unfair ceasefire,
and then they went to Egypt, their leaders, and praised
Trump for that fake ceasefire.
