Discussing Language Learning Experiences
Now I wanna talk to you guys about languages, because obviously we're talking
in English right now-
Yeah
... which is not, might be, might not be something
that you have to do every day,
right?
Mm-hmm.
But, but these days, being bilingual is not even surprising or
exciting anymore. Some might even speak, like,
four or three.
Mm-hmm.
I know you speak, like, four at least, right?
Um, a little bit. I would not say-
Yeah
... four, like, fluently.
Uh-huh.
But I'm still learning.
So Thai, English, and then you-
Uh, Spanish-
Spanish
... and Chinese.
And Chinese. Okay.
Chinese, I'm, I'm stu- we're still learning.
Okay.
Yeah.
And for you, at, I think three, at least. Two.
Yeah, three is.
Yeah.
Because I, Thai, English-
And
... and Isan.
Yeah.
That's a very good one. Yeah.
Oh.
Okay. How, how did you learn each language?
For me, Thai and Isan is my
native languages-
Yeah
... so I, I grew up speaking it, like, naturally.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Mm-hmm. And about English, you-
English
... learned that in school.
Yeah, I learn in school.
Mm.
But I, I study in Thai school, so I
try to, like, use it in my daily
life.
Yeah, yeah. And was English your favorite class?
No.
No? Okay.
No, not at all.
All right. All right. Yeah.
My, my favorite class is art.
Ooh, okay.
Yeah.
All right. Okay. But, but you're doing great.
Isn't she doing great?
Yes, I think she-
Yeah
... no, she's, she's a quick learner.
She-
Yeah
... gets things really fast. Yeah.
Yeah. Wow, that's cool.
Oh, thank you.
Right.
And, and, and how about you? How did you, um, learn, uh, Spanish and Eng-
and, and Chinese?
Um, it's actually a requirement in my school-
Mm
... in my college, to study a third language.
So I picked Spanish because it's kinda easier compared to Chinese.
Okay.
But then, looking like this, I can't deny that- ...
we need to also learn Chinese, so-
Right
... I once a week go to my, uh, grandmother's house and
make her teach me Chinese.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
Because she already speaks Chinese.
Yeah, she's-
She's Chinese, right?
She's a Chinese teacher.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
Very convenient, actually.
Yeah.
Just drop by your grandma's house-
And then-
... and, yeah, start talking to her.
Ask. Yes.
Wow, that's cool.
Yes.
And how about Spanish? So s- once you started
learning Spanish, did you like it?
Yes.
Or-
I, I fell in love with the language, with the culture, with the food, and
everything.
Mm.
And then, uh, actually, they only require two classes of Spanish,
but I
took, like, I think 10 or 11 classes throughout.
Wow, okay.
So it became, like, my minor. We-
Right.
Yeah.
Okay.
So it, it's like we take ex- I, I took extra eight classes of Spanish
throughout.
So you must be pretty fluent in Spanish, too.
Uh, not really. I forgot a lot, because-
Okay
... I don't have Spanish friends. I don't have ...
I've never been there to any s- Spanish-speaking countries.
Right.
So.
And that's the thing, right? If you, well, even go to 10 classes but you don't
get to use in real world, you start to kinda lose it.
Yeah.
Yeah. Okay.
That's-
But, but give us something. Give us something.
I don't know.
Besides, "Hello, my name is Bam."
Okay.
Okay.
Um, ella es mi amiga, mi pareja, so like she's my partner.
Um, ya olvidado Espanol mucho.
I forgot a lot. That, that's it in Spanish.
Like, I forgot a lot.
Oh. It sounds great, right?
Yeah, it sounds great.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, you sounds really good.
Thank you.
Okay.
Oh, really? Teach me some.

Yeah.
Yeah. Oh, that's very, very nice. I like it.
Oh, thank you.
Okay. Let, let's come back to, um, English.
How you guys keep practicing English?
Um, I, I think we're lucky of nowadays English
is in our
everyday lives.
Mm-hmm.
Like, we open, like, YouTube channels. We watch your show.
Yeah.
Ooh.
That's how we practice.
Thank you so much.
Yeah.
Like, and in the movies. Like, English is everywhere.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I, I try to, like, keep it in my daily life, like
watching Candy.
Ooh.
Watching movie with no subtitles, something like that.
Yeah, yeah. I think-
