Flávio Bolsonaro Flees Brazil for US After Election Loss
Good morning, Robin. It's just days after losing his bid to
follow his father into
office as president of Brazil. Flávio Bolsonaro bolted the country for
the
United States, where the Trump administration says it's
issuing him and his family
visas. Bolsonaro fled after Brazilian authorities
ordered him to
surrender his passport as part of an investigation into a billion-dollar
money laundering scheme. He has denied wrongdoing
and cast the investigation
as political. Bolsonaro, though, had vowed to contest the election he just
lost to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, but then he
disappeared, flummoxing Brazilians who now consider him
a fugitive.
Argentine officials told ABC News Bolsonaro's now flying through
Ecuador to Miami. The State Department said it would welcome
him, same as
his brother, who's been living with a green card in the
US since 2025.
Bolsonaro's father also left for Florida after he lost to
Lula in 2022, but he returned to Brazil, where he's now living
under house arrest for attempting a coup. Guys?
