Taoism, Celibacy and Western Sexual Culture
Maybe the Western culture is so obsessed with sex 'cause people
aren't actually
having sex. Yes, bodies are smacking against one another,
but is sex actually happening? I would say not, and this
is why. One, in Taoism, sexual practices are meant to bring good
health and longevity. In the West, sex seems to mainly be
mutual humping. So is it sex or some sort of weird body handshake?
Celibacy is also practiced in Taoism and is seen as a way to grow inner
power. In the West, people use celibacy as an era of
victimhood.
People are like, "Oh, my God, I've been a month without sex." Get a
grip.
If you cannot sustain in that way, you don't have power over yourself.
Number two, this is actually really sad.
Many men in the West have been circumcised.
This can create a reduction in sensation for both the man and the woman, a
trauma in the lower area of the body.
Like, okay, why are so many people addicted to corn?
Why are so many people circumcised?
And since the eggplant loses its foreskin, the body fluids don't stay as
intact during this experience. Number three, sex is powerful when
people feel secure in their bodies and healthy, that as well.
We currently have a lethargic culture that lacks the ability to move
and to eat well. When your altar, your body, doesn't feel loved
and taken care
of by you, how is sex, a language of ultimate
love, going to play out? It's not. If we're not taking care of our
own altar, our own inner being, our own body,
that language of love will be
distorted when we try to communicate it, and this is why you have so much drama for
people around sex when it's supposed to be a language of
such beauty.
When sex is built off of lies and inner denials, it
becomes a weapon that people use against one another,
and this is why I
think that people in the West aren't really having sex.
Doing some type of physical thing that looks like sex, but
I don't think they're speaking the language of love,
at least not all of them.
Some of them are, and I've met them. No, I'm just kidding.
