Addressing Healthcare Fraud and Coverage
Not a single American patient was benefiting from the
problem we are fixing today, not one.
I will tell you who was benefiting, though.
Insurance agents and insurance companies were reaping billions of
dollars from these problems. No Americans were helped by this.
No patient was benefited by the duplicate coverage.
They were getting coverage from one or the other, and the money was otherwise
vanishing into the pockets of insurance agents and insurance companies.
If you care about the ACA, if you want the
ACA to work, you should be thanking every single person
on this stage
because the only way that it survives is if
these problems are fixed, that the fraud is stopped, and
that integrity is restored. It was a choice, a conscious
choice in the previous administration to do nothing about this, and it
helped no one. No patient was benefiting from this.
Rich insurance companies and unscrupulous brokers
were the only beneficiaries of
this. That is fixed today. Americans are gonna have
coverage today, tomorrow, from the programs that we are protecting.
No one loses coverage as a result of this, but money that was otherwise going to
enrich giant insurance companies and insurance brokers
is now gonna stay in these
programs and go to the people who actually need it, and that is what the
anti-fraud effort is ultimately about.
