Eye Infection and Foreign Body Analysis
Oh, what the?
We got multiple things going on here.
On the white of the eye, we see this black thing
with a red circle.
Is it a foreign body that is there?
It could be.
That's been now embedded.
And then obviously, medial or more inside
to that that looks like pus and swelling.
Every time they actually lift up on the upper eyelid,
you actually see some what appears
to be purulent material coming out of the lacrimal area.
So there could be an infection within this area, which
needs and requires antibiotics, as long as it's draining.
It's a foreign body in the eye.
The reason why maybe it's lasted a long time,
it's in the sclera.
Sclera doesn't have as much nerve endings
as, say, your cornea, which is the area of cells that
are over the colored part of your eye as well as the pupil.
But the bigger concern is that there's a potential infection
as well in the eye, so you have to make sure
that you're giving the appropriate antibiotics
and have the appropriate follow-up.
