Investigating Funding Behind Protests
All right, so here we go again. The same thing we saw with the Iran
protests,
right? The exact same thing. All the same signs start coming out,
all printed,
freshly printed. Neville Roy Singham gets...
Launched a grand jury investigation against him.
They paused the protests for several months, and now they're back.
What's going on, guys? Where are we going with these signs?
I'm just doing a story on, uh, the protests.
People are saying it's grassroots, but this doesn't look grassroots.
Do you know where th- this is at?
Sorry, guys, I don't have the time.
You don't have the time? So you can see this
is coming out of the People's Forum
right here. Monolo. Brother, can we talk? This is Monolo Santos.
You remember him? You've seen him at the front of dozens of
protests.
He's a communist, and he's paid by Neville Roy Singham to
organize the protests
here in New York City, and I'm about to confront him.
Welcome back to The Nate Friedman Show.
You're here again.
Okay, let's, let's have a conversation.
So you're paid $80,000 a year from the Justice and Education Fund.
Mm-hmm.
Is that right?
Where'd you get that information?
It's in the 990s. Do you wanna see it? I have it here right here.
If it's on the 990, then it's on the 990.
Then, okay. But do you wanna see it, or you're good?
If it's on the 990, you've seen it already.
Okay, perfect. So
why are you paid $0 from the People's Forum but 80K from Justice and
Education when you're a general manager of the People's Forum?
Why are you paid through Justice and Education as opposed to-
None of your business.
Well, it's interesting, right? Because this is a way to funnel money into
paid
protesters by paying through a different nonprofit.
You keep raising this thing about paid protesters.
Yeah. Yes.
Where does that come from?
So it comes from when I look-
People don't get paid to protest.
Layan, do you wanna get in on this? Okay.
So Layan is another... So she's paid $80,000 a year on the 990
form.
But-
But why do you care what she gets paid?
I... And David's here too.
What do you get paid?
David, where have you guys been? Here, here's what-
What do you get paid?
No. Here's... You guys can look that up.
What do you get paid?
You guys can look it up.
Well, why do, why does it matter?
It, it matters because-
Why do you care about it?
It matters because what's illegal is-
Is there anything illegal in it?
Is... No, I don't think so.
So why do you care about it?
What's illegal is that the money is coming from China,
and he's not declaring
himself as a foreign agent.
And you prove that.
Yes. Neville Roy Singham gave you $20 million.
Did he not?
And that money comes from China?
Did he not? He's in China-
You are... You're putting-
... and he refuses to come here.
David, David, stop.
If they were ille-
Stop doing that, David.
If they were illegal, if they were illegal,
you know you'd be in prison already.
But it's not illegal.
Well, they launched an investigation into him.
There is no Chinese money. There is no Chinese money. You know that.
The US government knows that. Everyone knows that.
Okay.
If there, if there wa-
So why did you slow, why did you slow down since the
investigation came out?
We haven't slowed down. Actually, we've been quite busy, quite active.
Can you tell me-
In fact, we haven't stopped having public
activities.
Yeah. Can you-
We haven't stopped having classes. We haven't stopped protesting.
We haven't stopped organizing.
Yeah, I've seen the, the socialism classes.
We've been doing that across the country.
Yeah. How are the social-
And we're gonna keep organizing
... are the socialism classes doing well? You guys are, like, selling out?
Uh, they don't sell out because we don't sell
tickets for
classes.
Mm-hmm. Yeah.
But our classes are full.
They're filled up.
Our space... Our activities are full.
Yeah. Where are the protests about Sudan
and Nigeria for you guys?
'Cause I, I was looking through your Instagram,
and I didn't see any posts
about Sudan and Nigeria. Can you, can you tell me why there aren't protests?
Are these topics that really interest you?
I'm interested in the double standard, yeah.
No, no. But tell me more why you're interested in
Sudan.
Sure. There's a civil war, and over 100,000 people are killed.
I mean, isn't that, like, something that-
Are you helping to organize a protest?
Why aren't you helping? You, you do it for a living.
Let me just add a little bit of context to why this is so
deceptive and how the paid protest networks hide where the
money is coming from. This is great reporting.
So basically, this is a protest organizer.
He's one of the main guys at the People's Forum, which of course is funded by that
Chinese billionaire. But on paper, it looks like he's being paid
$0. But that's because the money that he's being paid is not
coming from the People's Forum, it is coming from this organization
right here. It is coming from the Justice
and Education
Fund. And is it funded by that Chinese billionaire?
Yes, it is. Investigative outlets have confirmed
that this is one of his
pass-through networks. A pass-through operation, the Justice and
Education Fund acts as a routing money network for the
organizations that is funded by this Chinese billionaire.
Okay, well, why does the People's Forum have to use a
pass-through
network to fund the people who work for them?
The answer to that is very simple, and it's right here.
"Sister charities strip the original donor's name off the
recipient's public return, so a group can look
grassroots while its payroll and grants trace to
one network." That is the scam right there.
Critics call this deceptive. I think anyone would call this deceptive.
So these people are being paid, like, $80,000 a year to organize
mass protests in America. But on paper, it looks like they are not paid,
so they can report that they are grassroots or not getting any money.
But really, it's a sister charity that is just a pass-through money
network that is paying these people their salary.
So it is all deception.
