Turkish Opposition Rejects Mecca Agreement, Warns of Yemen War

As what is called the Mecca Agreement was being presented in the Turkish Parliament, political objections to the agreement grew, in name, substance, and consequences.

You should not have used the name Mecca.

Those who take the name of Mecca as their slogan, then commit acts that contradict the spirit of Mecca, believe me, they will incur God's wrath.

Know that those who raise their hands to vote yes will be bringing ruin upon themselves.

And if you send soldiers to Yemen and vote yes on this memorandum, history will not forgive you.

And even if everyone forgives you, millions of Gaza's supporters will not forgive you.

Look, Mecca is a sacred place to billions of people.

They take that sanctity and use it by naming the agreement the Mecca Agreement, isn't that so?

And when we give the agreement this name It becomes something no one can discuss.

They create the impression that we are protecting the holy lands.

What role does Saudi Arabia play in the Middle East?

What political step have you seen Saudi Arabia take other than acting as a proxy for the United States in the region?

And what political step have you seen it take other than being one of Israel’s biggest collaborators?

So I ask from here, and I ask everyone, what problem do we have with the Yemeni people?

What has Yemen done that runs counter to Turkey’s national interests, my friends?

We are already facing a game of deception.

You exploit citizens’ religious feelings and their sacred beliefs, then go off to serve Israel and the United States.

We must not fall into this trap. That is why I say we will oppose the Mecca Agreement as strongly as possible, and vote against it clearly and openly.

I make the same appeal to all members of parliament.

Do not put the lives of poor people's children in this country at risk for the interests of America and Israel.

Claiming to protect Mecca and the Kaaba requires first and foremost protecting Palestine, protecting Gaza, and protecting Jerusalem.

Three full years have passed, and the parties to the agreement have shown no real willingness to help Gaza.

Today, we have before us an agreement whose articles and terms are clear.

When we read the text of the agreement, two fundamental questions come to mind.

First, whom are we going to defend? Second, against whom will we wage war?

We know the answer, but we must understand that Turkey's historic mission is not to create a front between two Muslim states, nor to arm the countries of the region against one another.

If an alliance must be formed, its purpose should not be to facilitate the regional calculations of the United States or Israel.

We in the Felicity Party declare to our nation that we will not take on this responsibility, and that we will not accept the Mecca Agreement in its current form.

Are you planning to conclude the Mecca Agreement, then the Badr Agreement, then the Uhud Agreement?

What are you protecting us from? What danger are you trying to avert through this agreement?

This is my foremost concern. If you insist on saying you achieved an extraordinary feat through the Mecca Agreement, then the extraordinary step you should take is to make the Mecca Agreement a shield protecting Gaza's orphans.

You are signing the Mecca Agreement, so why can't you say you made this agreement to protect Gaza from Israeli aggression?

Say that, and we'll applaud you. Say, "We will be a shield for Gaza's orphans."

Say, "We will protect those left unprotected," and those being killed before our eyes, and those facing genocide this century before the eyes of the world.

Say that, and let's see. Go on, say that when you get to this issue.

Not a sound comes out of your mouths.

That was how clear the positions were of the leaders of Turkey's opposition parties.

They attacked the Turkish government's position, And she affirmed that shame would haunt whoever signed the agreement, and described it as an agreement that serves America and Israel.

One of you must come out onto this platform and explain to the people what benefit the Mecca Agreement will bring to the Turkish Republic.

A mutual defense agreement like NATO’s cannot be made with a country that is at war, stipulating that if that country is attacked, we will consider ourselves attacked as well.

That means entering the war against the Houthis for Saudi Arabia’s benefit, and entering the war against the Houthis for Netanyahu’s benefit.

That means Turkey becoming Trump’s proxy in his war in Yemen.

Shame on those who signed this treason called the Mecca Agreement.

To them, the blood of martyrs and the soil of the homeland are no longer worth as much as an official car, a private secretary, or an office chair.

Whether a Turkish soldier is martyred while defending this country or defending the House of Saud, it makes no difference to them.

That is why we say no to turning the Turkish soldier into a mercenary for Aramco.

And we say no to the Mecca Agreement.
