Discussion on Fraud Impact and Government Response
Fraud is not about the numbers. Fraud hurts real
people in physical ways like Delilah Coleman, and we have
lots of examples about how fraud does this.
An example that we saw before is that doctors were performing
skin graft operations on elderly Americans in
hospices and nursing homes that didn't need it because then they
could get
reimbursements to the tunes of hundreds of millions of dollars
from HHS. We've ended that. But those were physically
maiming real American citizens so that people could wait--
make a quick buck,
and that's what's been going on here.
These schools are passing off these CDLs to people
who haven't earned them, putting forty-ton weapons into the
hands of people who are illegal immigrants who can't speak
English, and then they
hurt real Americans, real American citizens, the most
vulnerable among us that the government is supposed to be protecting.
That is why this fraud fight is important. It isn't about the money.
Real Americans are hurt, physically hurt every day
because fraudsters are trying to make a quick buck.
And that is why it is so important that the government under President Trump
and
the Vice President are focused on stopping it.
Now, we've heard a lot also today about how
states are
allowing these licenses to be distributed, and then they are inflicting these
people on the rest of us because you have the right to travel in this country, and
a license that is given by one state doesn't stay in that one state,
and they cause
injuries and deaths across the rest of the country.
This is a problem across the entire fraud war.
States who distribute cash assistance without regard to any of the
rules, billions of dollars every year, states who are handing out
CDLs to people who haven't learned it or haven't earned it.
President Trump is the first president to come in and say, yes.
In our federal system, the states have an important role to play,
but if
they're gonna mess it up, we are not gonna let them hurt the rest of
us by not playing by the rules, and the federal government will step in
and it
will fix the problem. And President Trump is the one
that stepped up,
saw this was a problem, a problem exacerbated by orders of
magnitude in
the previous administration, and is working to stop it,
and has been appointing
people to his cabinet who take this seriously.
And that is why we have the successes that we've had today, and that
is why we've
had all the successes on the anti-fraud front for the last year.
