Rivalry and Respect in Tennis
There are a lot of players that say, I want to act like Rafa, right?
He inspired me with the way that he went about it.
You're talking about leadership basically, and leaving
some place better than when, when you came along.
I think we as a rivals,
I think we showed the world that we can be the biggest rivals,
but at the same time, we can be colleagues.
I mean, I don't say best friends, but we can have a good personal relationship.
I think that shows a positive example to the next generations. I am proud of that.
We grow this in some way wild rivalry that we had between Roger, Novak, myself.
But at the same time,
we were able to don't lose the perspective that we are human persons.
And I think that helps
to this new generations to understand that you don't need to hate the opponent.
You can respect, you can appreciate the opponent because at the end,
they are important part of your lives.
So, and you don't need to hate the opponents to give your best.
That's what I think we showed the world.
Rafa, on behalf of everyone in tennis, I will speak for all of tennis right now.
Thank you for everything that you gave us over the years.
Thank you for the memories. Thank you, my friend. Big pleasure. Cheers.
