AI and Postmortem Therapy Discussion
You're telling me they're getting rid of people
and just using AI to keep families from knowing?
Buddy, you'd be gone by sunrise and your family wouldn't even know it.
Had a friend once, name was Jack D. Montclair, okay?
And he lived somewheres over in Ohio, right?
And so this big data center was moving in on his county,
right? Forget which company. Regardless, they were getting ready to build out
a massive data center, right? Couple of them.
And they were giving him offers on his house, right?
And I remember him calling me about it, right?
He's going, "Oh, they're gonna have to get it over my dead
body.
You know, this is my grandmother's house.
I'll be here till the day I D-I-E," right?
Mind you, knew this guy for years, never left the house.
Wouldn't even leave for groceries, right?
And so one day, I'll never forget it, couple months had went by, and
I'm seeing all the headlines about the construction of this data center happening
in Ohio, right? Lot of controversy.
And so I call up Jack, and, um, he answers, but
man, something was really off, you know?
And he goes, "Oh, hey, John. Yeah, I, um, moved out, man.
You know, the offer was too good, and I, um, moved to Puerto Rico, man."
And I'm just immediately, like, taken back, right?
Like, there's just no way, you know?
And I'm going, "Jack, what-- there's just no way," right?
And he's just, "Oh, yeah, yeah. You know, life goes on." And so
look, it was very uncanny, right? Like, it sounded just like him,
but the way he responded to everything, man, it was just
not completely him, right? Look, I go down a rabbit hole looking into
this data company, right? And who the CEO is, all this
stuff. Lo and behold, right, I find an AI
startup with similar investors from the data company, right, called
Forever After, okay? Very little information on the company,
right? Private entity. And so I kinda do my Googles,
find a public office for Forever After in Manhattan,
right? A sort of clinic, and they've got a phone number
and whatnot.
So I give them a ring, right? And a woman picks up the
phone. She goes, "Hello from Forever After.
Can I assist you?" And I'm going like, "Oh, you know,
just wanted to find out more
about your guys' services and whatnot. You know, I might be interested," right?
And she goes, "Oh, well, thanks for calling.
We specialize in a new emerging space known as postmortem therapy,"
right? She's explaining to me that if I have a loved one who had
passed or is expected to soon pass away, that I can
basically provide them with data, right?
Text messages, phone calls, videos, anything that can
basically allow them to make a sufficient clone of the
individual's voice, the way they think, right?
And that they make an AI model of that individual, which would
allow you to just indefinitely continue talking to them
as if nothing ever happened. And in that moment, I realized everything,
right? It wasn't Jack anymore, okay?
They took him, did God knows what with him,
and automated a clone
in some data center to respond to his contacts as if he was still here.
