Controversy in Egypt Argentina Game

No shortage of politics in this tournament

which is no real surprise at the end of the day But I really want to talk about the

latest sort of controversy a sort of veritable international incident it

seems over decisions made by the ref in the Egypt Argentina

game Decisions that have left not just the Pharaohs and their fans incandescent

That fury also echoed I have to say by much of the football punditry

around the world And there are these sort of

accusations that FIFA

and its refs

effectively are not impartial You know they're taking a position

for teams on this occasion the Argentinians What do you make of all of this

I mean look this

is a highly emotive and charged subject

We saw in that Egypt Argentina game definitely some very shoddy refereeing

and a goal that Egypt scored that should never have been ruled out by the

video assisted referee

There is all sorts of innuendo and suspicion and speculation about the ways in

which FIFA and FIFA president

Gianni Infantino want someone like Lionel Messi and Argentina to be in the final

Now I don't want to go around and invoke a conspiracy theory but you can see

why the But I think you should also recognize that football has always

been about injustice and there's always been controversy and

I can't imagine scenarios where you don't feel that injustice

But you know I think at the end

of the day this is a World Cup where you're never going to have everyone very happy

But we've seen an incredible tournament incredible games

incredible drama and a lot of high stakes clashes
