Conspiracy Theories Surrounding Haiti Earthquake
U.S. causes Haiti earthquake using weather warfare.
It sounds like something you'd read on the front cover of a tabloid magazine right next
to pictures of a still alive Elvis and an alien, right?
Well, it may not be as far-fetched as you think.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez now blaming the United States for Haiti's earthquake and
conspiracy theorists are lining up behind him.
Here to walk us through the rumors is Arthur Goldblag, author of Cults, Conspiracies and
Secret Societies.
Arthur, it's been a little more than a week and already quite a few conspiracy theories
surrounding the earthquake in Haiti, but let's talk a little specifically about the HAARP
theory.
HAARP, as we know, stands for High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program, and this
is a research project between the Air Force and the Navy.
Many believe that the testing done there can change weather patterns and even cause earthquakes.
What are you hearing about this, especially in regard to Haiti?
Well, HAARP sends high frequency radio waves into the ionosphere.
It does it to study the effects on communication, cell phone transmissions, missile guidance,
and so on.
Theoretically, changes in the ionosphere can alter the weather.
Major changes in the ionosphere can cause vibrations that resonate with fault lines
and cause earthquakes.
This is very theoretical.
There aren't practical applications of this yet, but a lot of conspiracy theorists have
seized on it and said that the U.S. used this earthquake weapon so that it could get a hold
of gold that's in Haiti, oil that's in Haiti, or just to build military bases in Haiti.
It's an excuse to put the military in.
It's not just conspiracy theorists.
I know you study a lot of conspiracy theorists, but we're also talking about Venezuelan President
Hugo Chavez.
Now, it's no secret that America isn't exactly number one on his list of favorite countries,
but he's saying the earthquake is a result of tectonic weapons.
What have you heard about this?
I've heard a lot of talk about tectonic weapons, and again, theoretically, it's possible that
tectonic weapons can be made someday.
They may even look something like HAARP.
But I believe that it's actually Vladimir Acosta in Venezuela that's been saying this.
I think it's very much in the realm of propaganda right now.
There's no practical, there's no concrete evidence that this is what's happened.
It was an act of God.
And this is not the first time there have been accusations of weather manipulation.
We've heard reports of earthquake machines back from the 1890s, tsunami bombs.
I mean, what else do you hear?
What are these other theories that are out there?
Well, there's a very famous scientist, Nikola Tesla, who claimed to have an earthquake machine
back in the 1940s.
