Discussion on Community Business Ownership
Foundational Black America.
You know what's crazy?
We don't own none of the stores in our neighborhood.
Not the cleaners, not the laundromats,
none. We don't own none of it.
Not the smoke shops, and we love to smoke.
Not the liquor store, we don't own none of it.
But you know what's even crazier?
We don't even work in none of them.
Like, none of us. We've never worked in any of them,
as far as
I can remember. I'm like, "Yo, we never even worked in none of them
shits."
We don't even know how to run them shits.
The fuck is we doing?
Like, if you go to the Chinese, you go to Chinatown,
they own every fucking store. Not only do they own every
store, they're outside still selling, like, little goods on a
table somewhere.
You go to the Jewish community, they own every store.
You mean to tell me we don't even get to work in the stores in our
own neighborhood?
We, forget owning them. We don't, we don't own them,
but we don't even get to work
in them shits.
What type of shit is that?
We must have seriously lost our motherfucking minds.
