Journalist recounts attack in conflict zone
Recover quickly.
Thank you. And, uh-
And Jess, you can tell us what happened with you
today.
Yeah. First of all, I just wanna thank all, everyone
here and my colleagues and that I've known many
of you for decades. And, um, you've
always taken in-incredible care of me.
And today everyone has been taking incredible care of me,
um...
And work.
It's really, you know, just even yesterday, um, my
son Michael, who, um,
has always told me that his biggest fear would be
that his mother would be killed by the settlers.
And we even had this conversation yesterday.
Um, I just got back actually two days ago from
three weeks in
Ukraine. And, um, I've been covering this conflict here,
um, for... since-
Fifteen
... over three decades. And
this is, uh, the second time that I've been brutally attacked.
Uh, fifteen years ago, I was also attacked in front of the
army and the police and
outside of Havat Gilad. Today, um,
I was brutally attacked by... I mean, we saw on
the, on the,
in the, in the distance, in the hilltop,
I would say at least fifty masked men.
I was-- I had a one hundred to, uh,
five hundred millimeter lens that you could see the mask
with, um,
uh, slingshots. Um, and when they came
running down,
uh, I wa--
I was attacked, pushed to the ground.
I am-- luckily I had my flak jacket and my helmet, otherwise
I probably wouldn't even be here because they just
kept kicking me,
uh, and kicking me like probably fifty
times. And, um, and then
after like ten minutes, it, they like
tried to get me to stand up and then they to push me
down again and continued to kick me.
And I was trying to hold on to my cameras
and my pouch, and I had my phone on a string on my neck
that
they eventually just broke everything off of me and
continued kicking me. And then the next thing I noticed
is I was getting, uh, evacuated by my
Palestinian colleagues a-and, um, medical
service that rushed me in an ambulance, uh, first to
the medical center in Abu, uh, Disla, uh, to
check me and then to the hospital here.
And that's what happened.
And it... You could see they were lighting things on-- They
were lighting the
fields on fire, um, before.
Yeah.
Yeah. Hope you will be fine soon.
Thank you.
Mm-hmm.
One message to their parents. I don't know how a parent can
raise such monsters. Really.
Honestly.
I have witnessed
their behavior, uh, attacking families and,
uh, which we recently published a story, and I just am, I'm
so ashamed that, that
as a parent myself, I cannot understand how a
parent can raise such
individual
monsters. They're not even humans.
And yes,
they are Jewish terrorists, and they are giving everyone in the
country a horrible reputation and
unfortunately
everyone is seeing them,
uh,
through their, who, who they are.
And that's, you know what? Sadly, none of them will be
prosecuted. I am sure of
it.
I hope you'll be well soon.
Thank you.
