The Mysterious Death of John McAfee
What would you say if I told you a man was killed in prison under
extremely strange circumstances?
That his home was demolished right after his death, and that the search
and rescue team was from Israel. That man was John
McAfee, and he created one of the first commercial
antivirus programs. He later became a fugitive, a
presidential candidate, and a man who paid for his own private
security because he believed rogue intelligence agencies and
deep state governments were coming for him.
He even got a tattoo that referenced to a dark web
assassination
market where people bet on when public figures would be killed.
McAfee publicly warned that if he ever appeared to hang himself,
it would be murder, not suicide. He also opposed to
US aid to Israel. In 2016, during the San
Bernardino shooting case, the FBI demanded Apple build a
backdoor into an iPhone they couldn't unlock.
When the FBI later said they bypassed the phone without Apple's
help, with the assistance of the Israeli cyber
intelligence firm,
Cellebrite, McAfee reached out to Forbes, where he
publicly protested and pointed out the implications.
McAfee also claimed to have massive amounts of damaging
data, tweeting about holding thirty-one
terabytes of corrupted
data that he said exposed global government corruption.
He was arrested soon after this for what the government said was tax
evasion, but McAfee insisted it was their way of isolating him
so they could kill him. And on June 23rd,
2021, a Spanish court approved his extradition
to the United States. Hours later, he was found hanging in
his prison cell. His attorney said he had spoken with
McAfee
constantly and saw no sign the man intended to take his own
life. His widow met with him shortly before his
death.
She insists he was not suicidal and claims he was still
breathing when the guards found him.
Spanish authorities performed a single autopsy.
They refused an independent second examination requested by the family.
His body remained in a morgue refrigerator for an entire year before it
was finally released and quickly cremated before a second
autopsy could be performed. The very next day, a condominium
building in Surfside, Florida, partially collapsed, killing ninety-eight
people. Persistent rumors claimed John McAfee had
stored hard
drives of intelligence in a unit there.
A foreign military search and rescue team was invited onto
American soil for this domestic disaster.
That team came from, you guessed it, the Israel Defense
Force Homefront Command in Tel Aviv.
After McAfee's death, dark web forums and independent
military blogs published theories linking his demise to
international espionage networks, including Israel's
Mossad. But any evidence that could have proved these claims
would have been recovered by Israeli recovery efforts.
This is one of those cases that is too strange to just file
away and forget. For the official story, they call it a suicide,
but what do you think happened to John McAfee?
