How Gasoline Powers a Car
You put gasoline in your car, but where does it actually go?
First, the fuel sits inside the tank where an
electric
pump gets it ready to move. The pump pushes
gasoline through fuel lines all the way toward the engine.
Then fuel injectors spray a precise mist of
gasoline into the engine. That fuel mixes with
incoming air before entering the combustion chamber.
The piston compresses the mixture and the spark plug ignites
it. The expanding gases push the piston down,
turning the crankshaft and creating power.
That power travels through the drivetrain to the wheels and
suddenly your car moves.
