Geoengineering and Climate Control Solutions
There is a line of research on what's called geoengineering
What's called geoengineering
which are various techniques that would delay the heating to buy us
twenty or thirty years to get our act together.
Uh, now the new White House science advisor
is talking about much more ambitious
ideas, using technology to reset the Earth's
climate ourselves, controlling our weather.
Meanwhile, Bill Gates is backing the first high altitude
experiment of one radical
climate change solution, creating a massive chemical cloud
that could cool the
Earth. It's called solar geoengineering and-
It's called solar geoengineering
It would look something like this.
Thousands of planes would fly very high and use nozzles to inject
millions of tons of light-reflecting particles into the stratosphere.
It would create a thin chemical cloud of those particles around the whole
planet, blocking some sunlight from reaching the
surface.
Stop injecting it, and after a year, the cloud is gone.
You get this rapid warming at a rate much faster than you would get if we had done
nothing.

Normal weather. We're finally done, we hope,
with the historic summer heat wave
we had.
Jim here with us with one more look back and look forward to what may become a
very-
A very long-term drought. That's what-
A very long-term drought. That's what-
Hottest summer ever, hottest month ever, hottest July,
hottest August, hot-
Tonight, a good chunk of the country is feeling hot under the collar
as an intense, and what forecasters say will be a
prolonged, heat wave
starts to take a dangerous hold across the middle of the country.
By tomorrow at this time, temperatures will soar into the triple
digits as far
north as Minnesota. And no, this is not par for the course in
July. This month, we have seen more than nine hundred
temperatures
meet or exceed all-time records. And of course, July is
only half over.
Out West, there is a drought so vast it stretches
from fire-ravaged
California to drying lakes, rivers, and wells in Utah,
Arizona, Colorado, and Nevada. Forty percent of our
country is in drought tonight. You may not feel the heat,
but you're feeling the
impact.
The biggest reservoir in the US just hit a record low.
This is Lake Mead, held back by the Hoover Dam.
Uh, you can now add planet Earth's most
plentiful natural resource to the list of
things that investors can trade. Water began trading on the Chicago
Mercantile
Exchange today, joining other commodities such as oil, s-
The nation's largest two reservoirs, Lake Mead near Las Vegas and Lake
Powell, have fallen to their lowest levels on
record.

So an American company called the CME Group has added
water to the futures market.
The idea is f- for you to bet on how well a product will
sell at a future
date and set a price for it today.
Well, a federal appeals court ruling that the US Constitution does not include
the
right to clean drinking water.
We're also looking at chemtrails and the impact of emissions.
Uh, emissions from,
uh, from aircraft and those potential impacts.
For the development of a weather satellite
that will permit man to determine the
world's cloud layer and
ultimately to control the weather, and he who controls the
weather will control the world, world,
world.
