Investigation of Newborn Death and Measles

If, if, uh,

if there is a contagious agent that pauses, that

causes a sp- a, uh, a significant risk to the public,

that must be reported to the coroner.

And we had no such reports.

Uh, at the time of the autopsy, we did obtain some tissue

from the newborn and sent it for PCR testing

that did confirm the presence of measles.

But measles was not the cause of death.

Uh, the spleen, uh, did not appear infected by

measles. It was not enlarged, and our forensic

pathologist indicated that it did not appear inflamed
