Migrant Children at the Southern Border: Conditions and Care Concerns

On Mexico's side- Mm-hmm ... you can see the remnants- Mm-hmm ... of the migrants that came over.

How would they get through this wall? They're gonna come through with, I guess, a grinding saw, you know. Um, it's gonna be a disk about this big.

The wall is... It, it's such a long beam, and it has flex at the top.

So now they just pull it out. Nick, what were these items you were finding at the southern border?

Well, a lot of it's stuff that the migrants left behind, and some of it was even, like, papers of these people from their travels behind.

And I had personally just, like, when I would go to the border around, uh, 2023, you'd find their passports and such.

And now these people still have the remnants of their belongings on the other side of the border.

300,000 lost children in this country is the estimate, and this is the condition that some of these children arrived in.

Let's watch more of your reporting. They're just completely wrecked, and they look like a lifeless body, and they will be laying on the ground.

I've seen kids collapsed on, like, right, right here on this road.

And I've never seen a, a, you know, like a six-year-old kid just flop down in the rocks.

It's been suggested to me, and I've heard it, that they were, they're, uh... like, they would dope these kids up.

Is that what I saw? I can't say for sure, but looking back on it, I can look and say it was not normal.

So these children, Nick, were victims of the open border policies of President Biden.

Yeah, 100%. And like he said, like, he doesn't know if they were doped out.

He'd never seen people or children specifically exhausted like that, and they just literally, like, sprawled out, out the border.

And then nobody really knows where these kids went after.

So super sad what took place. So there were two paths these kids could have gone.

They either went to an unvetted sponsor, that was the ultimate destination of many of them, or they went to an emergency intake facility.

This is government dollars that were given to private entities to house these kids.

Nick, I wanna revisit some of the court proceedings for these children.

In one case, a young girl said that there were suicide watch lists that these girls were on.

There was another case where a facility was shut down because young girls were having to literally use the restroom in plastic bags.

And listen to this, Nick. "Many times..."

This is a young refugee, a young girl, seven, 13-year-old Honduran.

"Many times I have been given chicken that was bloody and raw.

Remember that during one meal my friend was given chicken that still had feathers in it, and she had to pull out the feathers." Does this comport with what you learned?

This is government dollars, and this is how these young children were, were tr- treated in some cases.

Well, it's so sad because the government, they would send the money to, uh, NGOs, nongovernmental organizations, yet they were doing the dirty work for the government.

And who knows what was taking place there.

Like you just said, somebody was eating chicken, and there was still, like, a feather from the chicken on it.

Nobody knew what was actually happening.

And then you go and try to question these people as to... you follow the contract where the money went.

Now a lot of these companies have been dissolved. They don't even exist anymore.

They received literally hundreds of millions of dollars, and now today they do not even exist.
