How Wood Strips and Fabric Make a Flexible Cabinet Panel
At first glance, this wooden board looks surprisingly soft, but normally, wood is stiff and hard.
So how can it suddenly bend like this?
And not just that, our guy in the video even built a cabinet out of it.
When he slides it open and closed, it looks super smooth.
So how does this trick work?
Well, making a rigid wooden board flexible isn't impossible.
One common way is to cut thin grooves into it with a saw.
The more cuts you make, the easier it bends.
But the problem is, it can only bend a little, and the shape is pretty much fixed.
The board you see in the video is different.
It's actually wood combined with fabric.
Here's how.
First, cut the wood into strips.
Then spread glue on the back and stick a piece of fabric onto it.
Once the glue dries, the fabric holds all the strips together as one piece.
Now, when you pick it up, it bends easily, turning a stiff wooden board into a flexible one.
