Comparison of Military Tactics in Conflict
If the Nazis acted like the Israel Defense Forces.
Before entering a neighborhood, the German army drops paper leaflets from
planes,
telling Jewish families exactly which areas to leave and
which roads lead to
safety. Every afternoon, the fighting halts for several hours,
a daily
ceasefire, letting Jewish families gather food,
water, and medicine along a
marked route. Before a strike, the German army telephones Jewish
families to warn them, calling homes one by one so everyone can
get
out before the building is hit. The German army repaired the water pipes
and
switched the electricity back on for Jewish civilians in the very neighborhoods
it
is still fighting to take. At relief stations
and field hospitals across the
line, German troops hand out food and treat wounded Jewish civilians,
even in beds meant for their own soldiers.
Along the coast, the German command sets aside a protected
zone for Jewish
civilians and urges families to move there, where the army provides tents,
clean water, food, and medical care.
For three full days, the fighting stops along the whole front,
so German
doctors can go house to house and vaccinate Jewish children against
polio.
The Nazis did none of this.
