Understanding Exorcism and Latin Mass
Sometimes in session it gets a little brutal 'cause if the demon's speaking in
Latin, I can usually understand what he's saying
right away 'cause I can hear it
fairly well. I had a proficient reading knowledge of
it, needed to work a little
bit on the speaking side of it. Composition-wise, I was okay at it.
I'm one of those guys, I can speak it, but I have to sit
and think of the grammar.
Sometimes making responses. In fact, I had one demon that got- he was a little
snooty, 'cause what he would do is if I, you know, used the accusative when I was
supposed to use the ablative, he would just ignore me like he didn't
have to pay
attention.
Oh my gosh.
But at the end of it I told him, "Hey, you know, you really helped my grammar."
So the other thing is, you know, you mentioned, you know,
demons follow you around.
Well, if I see them, it's actually a good thing,
'cause then I can keep track of
them and I know what they're up to. It's when they get quiet you have to
worry.
You have to understand, by the time I started this thing I had
already been writing
articles about the, the traditional Latin mass.
I had become intellectually convicted this is better.
By this time I have the theological and philosophical framework to seeing why
it's better. But then also people who are possessed, a- almost all of
them will say it's harder to attend the Old Rite than the New.
One of the things that we'll actually watch for
is where the demons are pinging.
So, like, if it's a part of the offertory, we'll take a look at that part of the
offertory 'cause that tells us something about the dynamics
of the possession case.
And this is something that other people, you would hear in confession regularly,
and people would complain about this, that the- when they were going up to
communion, that all of the sudden they'd have...
You know, through the whole mass they're able to
just focus, they have a good and
devout mass, and then they walk up and all of a sudden they just get barraged
by
these impure thoughts. They generally find the Old Rite just
harder to get
through. The pattern that I was noticing in hearing the confessions of
Old Rite
priests and New Rite priests, and the pattern that I was noticing is,
is that
the Old Rite priests by and large struggled less with
chastity issues. There was some kind of a difference,
and I didn't know what it
was. What I started doing as a pastor is you would get men who were married,
they
might fall in relationship with the sixth commandment like once every six months to
a year, but by and large they were actually being chaste.
And so I started telling them, "Why don't you just do Lauds
and Vespers from the
Old Rite every single day and see if that takes the edge off of it?" Well, to a
man, every single one of them-
Wow
... said as long as they did it, it stopped.
Wow.
A number of the exorcists who are in the New Rite
that started saying the Old Rite
office said there was a shift that they noticed interiorly.
I think it's more discipline, it's the Latin language, which
is a sacred language.
It's also the fact that it basically goes back to Christ
said, "If you
knock and it'll be opened." Well, if you don't knock,
it's not likely to be open.
And so the fact that they reduced, in the prayers of the New Rite breviary
they
reduced it down. You're just not praying as much,
you're not praying as much as the
psalter. I think that it's a burden 'cause it takes a
while, but they said once
they started doing it, they just notice a lot of...
Most of the exorcists that I knew just didn't have a problem in
chastity to begin
with, but they would say that other areas of their spiritual life
just cleaned
up.
