How to Learn Financial Basics Through Investing and Company Research

“ What should I start studying with?” Well, first of all, this is already easy.

It is, well, gaining ordinary financial knowledge

and also gaining practical knowledge about starting a real business.

So, how do you do this? It is actually simple.

First, for financial knowledge, um, I am not recommending investing

or trying to hype investing, but…

Using money that you can afford to lose, try investing in various things.

Japanese stocks are fine, American stocks are fine, and I think Japanese stocks and

the like are better than cryptocurrency for gaining experience with companies.

So Japanese stocks might be good. Give it a try. When you do that,

it becomes a battle over whether your own money will go up or down tomorrow,

so everyone gets desperate about it.

Right, so what happens is,

you end up digging into all kinds of information about the company.

Yeah, like,“ This company’s earnings were like this,”

or“ This company’s performance is like this,” even though normally

you have absolutely no interest in it at all, when you have your own money in it,

you research something you otherwise would never care about.

And the reason is that it stops being someone else’s problem and becomes your own.

Yes, having that kind of experience,

for me— this is from my own experience— it raised my financial literacy,

and it improved my financial perspective,

and yes, it helped me develop a better sense for management.

On the other hand, being able to look at listed companies’ IR,

I started to understand,“ Oh,

this kind of company does this kind of thing and makes a profit this way,”

and I really became able to read that.
