Veteran Reflects on Remembrance Sunday and the Cost of Freedom
What does Remembrance Sunday mean for you?
What is your message?
M- my message is
I, I can see in my mind's eye the rows and rows of
w- white stones of all the hundreds of my
friends
and everybody else that gave their lives for what?
The, uh, a country of today. No, I'm sorry,
uh, uh,
uh, but the sacrifice wasn't worth w- the result that it is
now.
Oh, well, I'm sorry-
What do you-
To hear that
... what do, what do you, what do you mean by that, though? That,
at this point.
Well, what we fought for-
Mm
... uh, what we fought for was our freedom.
We find that even now
it is w- d- darn sight worse than what it was
when I fought for it.
