Arabic Poetry Recitation on Courage, Battle and Martyrdom

And killing for us is a constant habit and a sign of how true it is that the

coward lives long and does not die.

Among us is a master who stays

in his bed, or, if in the field of battle, lags behind.

And if a leader of ours falls slain,

then in his wake rises a noble,

generous, lion- hearted man,

for the free,

killing is— — no disgrace,

by the Prophet’s love,

even if it were to be repeated,

and killing for the sake of God is an honor,

for martyrdom

atones for sins.

And death in battle is better than a life of humiliation that stops the vile

by its judgment or commands them.

O Lord, then strengthen our backs until You see our scattered limbs,

a sacrifice to draw near to You,

dispersing. Takbir!

God is greatest!

Takbir! God is greatest!

Ask the lofty spears about our noble deeds,

and call the white blades to testify:

have hopes in us ever failed,

when we strove?

Our resolve never softened from what we plunge into,

nor have our efforts failed.

A people who, when they go to dispute,

are like pharaohs for a day,

and when they rule,

they are scales of justice,

having donned reason as a garment.

And if the fire of battle blazes,

you would think us madmen within it.
