Future Jobs in an Age of Abundance

What are the jobs of the future? 'Cause people looking at this will be

worried,

particularly laptop jobs. What, what are they gonna do in the future

if the machines do it?

Super intelligence. Um, I, I think by far the most likely outcome

is an

age of abundance, uh, where we don't have just, uh,

universal basic income, we

have universal high income.

Um, and, uh, yeah, people speak about the medical benefits.

I think the, uh... but, but maybe it's worth talk a bit more

about that. Um, when you have, uh, robots and you have

super intelligence, it means that everyone in the world can have

better medical care than anyone here, including me.

Um, and wouldn't that be wonderful?

Not if they haven't got a job.

Well, jobs are going to change. Jo- jobs have always changed.

Uh, but, uh, it... being a computer used to be a job.

There used to be buildings full of people doing calculations.

Uh, but now, uh, compute- you know, digital computers do, do those

tasks. And I don't think anyone is, uh, pining to go back and do calculations

all day, uh, to do bank interest rates, which is what they used to do.

So I think we'll see an evolution of, of roles.

Um, and, uh, and as the president has mentioned, the,

uh...

it's, it's not as though, uh, unemployment has increased.

In fact, there's a tremendous demand for people.

Um, so I, I think the most likely outcome, and it's probably worth looking

at the most likely outcome, uh, is one which is incredibly beneficial,

and it's a

future that you... if you could, if you could look into the future, it

is a future

you would want.

Uh, Elon and I sat with President Xi the other

day, and

he will take every data center that we don't want.

Do you agree with that?

Yes.

He's done... He would love to have every single one.

Because you know why?

They're smart. They want every data center.

They want it because that's great for China.
