Israeli operation in Tubas and Tammun and land seizures for road

An ongoing Israeli operation in the northern West Bank

The apparent target is security

But the occupation has further-reaching objectives

As local sources reveal

Dozens of homes were evacuated

And they abused their owners

And they set up military barracks

In every tall building in Tubas governorate

Whether Tubas or Tammoun

The operation resulted in arrests and injuries

And the fragmentation of the city of Tubas

And the town of Tammoun

The Israeli army announced that the goal of the campaign

is to combat what it called "terrorism"

But the facts on the ground reveal otherwise

Israel had confiscated, a week before the campaign,

1,042 dunams in the area

to open a security road 22 kilometers long

According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission

which said

that this road will isolate Tubas and Tammoun

from the agricultural lands surrounding them

And will facilitate the expansion of the settlements

in the northern Jordan Valley

And although the sources' pretext

is of a temporary military nature

Mouayad Shabaan says

Experience shows that

90 percent of the military roads

later turned into roads serving the settlements

or corridors separating Palestinian communities

These confiscations and attacks

on the land constitute a new blow

to the economy of the city of Tubas

and the town of Tamoun, whose economy is based

The campaign coincides with the Knesset's approval

at the first reading of a bill

that allows settlers

to own property in the West Bank

Now the occupying state

violates international law by proposing

this bill in the Knesset again

Yesterday it was approved

in its first reading

meaning it has two readings left

to achieve even minimal validity in the Knesset
