Ivermectin's Role in Cancer Treatment
Ivermectin back in the news, and of course it's something we've talked
about a lot
here. Obviously, w- a lot of people have become very familiar
with
ivermectin, obviously through COVID.
Um, and obviously you've been on the show
and talked about it as far as parasite
cleanses. Uh, and now promise with cancer treatment
is out there.
And yesterday, I believe it was, the First Lady of Florida, Casey DeSantis,
Ron DeSantis's wife, said that she made an announcement of a $60
million
cancer innovation fund. And she says in support, in
a part, will support research into the benefits of
repurposing,
um,
j- j- genetics, uh, like, uh, like ivermectin to
fight cancer.
And, uh, we understand that ivermectin cream
is now also being talked about to be
used in a variety of skin problems. Talk, so talk to us about all of this.
Yeah, this should happen. You know, we went through a pandemic.
It's almost like going through a, a space program.
There should be spinoffs. And ivermectin was probably the best
spinoff
of the pandemic. Very useful drug. Originally an anti-parasitic.
I used it prior to the pandemic largely to treat scabies, but now it's
antiviral.
And, um, I think of great interest are the preclinical studies
showing it's anti-neoplastic. And a recently
announced UCLA and Cedars-Sinai in, in LA
are launching a big cancer clinical trial of
ivermectin in a variety of solid organ cancers.
So ivermectin and benzos offered by the wellness company.
It, it's certainly fine to use it off-label.
We're studying the use, by the way, when people sign up.
But people are adding this to their cancer chemotherapy regimens right
now, into radiation therapy and other treatment.
Because, you know, who wa- Somebody has cancer, who wants to
wait when the drugs are this safe and this available?
Absolutely. That's the first thing people always say
when you have it.
A- most people re- first reaction is, "Just get it out.
Get it out of my body as quickly as possible." And of course, as we know-
Mm
... the traditional methods of, uh, chemo and things like that are, um,
it's like
breaking eggs with hammers. It gets the job done,
but there's a lot of collateral
damage. So studies-
Yeah
... like this are obviously really, really important.
Um, specifically to the cream application, um, are there any side effects
to something like that?
No, unless there's some hypersensitivity to it
itself.
Actually, I prescribed it today for a patient.
There's a whole variety of spike protein or post-vaccine or
post-COVID syndromes now, cutaneous syndromes, where the spike
protein may play a role. It's previously on the market, uh, called
Soolantra, topical ivermectin 0.5 and then 1%
cream. But it is FDA approved to treat acne,
and I think a lot of
people who have that kind of deeper pitting acne are looking for
some solution
