Cervical Cancer Trends and Questions About the HPV Vaccine

UCLA just published a study that showed that

the number of cervical cancer cases in young women is significantly increasing

and specifically end stage,

meaning stage four cases of cervical cancer

which have an 83% mortality rate.

They've also shown that women of color

have a greater than 50% higher rates

of these end stage cervical cancers.

Some of the possible causes they say

may be the rising obesity in women,

delaying childbirth, as well as possibly

lack of early detection through pap smears.

We know that HPV is related to cervical cancer.

In 2006, the HPV vaccine was highly touted

as the vaccine against cancer even

though there were a lot of concerns about side effects and even deaths.

Does that sound familiar?

So more than a decade later,

the number of HPV related cancers has not decreased

even though the vaccine has been widely adopted by men and women.

In fact, the CDC has noted that

in the past 15 years, HPV related cancers have significantly increased.

So if the HPV vaccine does not decrease cancer,

as we've been led to believe,

then the CDC and the health officials

have been lying to us all along.
