Dump Dinner: Arizona Dad Serves Spaghetti Straight on the Table
I had a solution to the stress and the mess of family dinner with young
kids
involved, or at least an idea. Instead of setting up plates
and silverware,
gathering around the dinner table for a civilized meal, some households are done
trying, and they're doing this as an alternative.
It's known as dump dinner because of that move there where you empty the pot
like
it's a pail. It's been a thing for a few years now on
social media.
Dump it.
Pasta first.
And it recently caught fire again thanks to Clark Hoppel here, a dad in
Arizona who dumped a full pot of spaghetti over a table of tinfoil
and let his kids have at it. He says he and his wife came to the idea
on their
own, but for the same reason so many others
have: no dishes and no
complaints from the kids.
The kids obviously wanna do it again.
Uh, they had a lot of fun with it, eating with their hands.
Is it good for picky eaters? Is it a disaster for young manners?
Clark is not worried about any of that.
For him, and for so many others, the point is still the family
dinner itself.
I mean, it's just fantastic to spend time with the
kids when the kids wanna spend
time with you. There's gonna come a time where family
dinners, sitting around
eating off of tinfoil with your hands, is not gonna be something
that we all wanna
do.
Until that moment comes, dump dinner it is.
