The Bible gives us men a five-step morning routine
to follow. Step number one, check this out.
Psalm chapter 119 verse 105 says, "Your word
is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
So as soon as I wake up in the morning, the
first thing I gotta ask myself is, am I measuring
my thoughts and actions against Scripture?
Am I being led by Scripture or am I opening
Instagram or TikTok and I'm allowing the information
that I'm receiving through scrolling to control
what I think today and how I feel. Instead of
launching the Instagram or TikTok app, launch
the Bible app and read the word for at least
10 minutes, bro. And that brings us to step
number two. In James chapter 1 verse 22, it
says, "But be doers of the word and not hearers
only, deceiving yourselves." For if anyone is
a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like
a man observing his natural face in a mirror.
So one of the things I ask myself when I wake
up in the morning is, am I doing what God called
me to do?
What He asked me to do?
And that's where in step number two, after reading
the Scripture, bro, I go into prayer. And I
ask God, "God, use me today. Tell me where You
want me to be today. Tell me where You need
me to be today. Tell me how to be of service
today. Guide my steps." So go into prayer in
step number two, bro. And when I say like praying
to God for direction today, I don't mean like
your job. For example, I run a business. I know
what I have to do when I come in every day.
I'm talking about praying to God for direction
on how I can be of service to the kingdom. That
has nothing to do with money. How can I serve
people, right?
Like my fruits, my actions. And I pray on that
every single day so that when those opportunities
arise, I can be of service to people. And that
brings me to step number three. In Romans chapter
12 verse 2, and it says, "And do not be conformed
to this world, but be transformed by the renewing
of your mind." So one of the first things I
ask myself in the morning is, am I letting the
culture shape me or is my mind being renewed
by the Spirit?
Now renewing our mind goes back to what we talked
about in number one and number two, which is
praying early in the morning and reading Scripture
early in the morning. I've also found that talking
to people on the phone early in the morning
who believe in the same thing as me and we're
sharpening blades, sharpening iron, that allows
me to be able to renew my mind as well. Talking
to people, engaging with them, going through
Scripture together, like praying together, blasting
off ideas together. It allows us to renew our
minds. So find somebody that can hold you accountable
and you can hold them accountable very early
in the morning with a very fruitful and detailed
conversation. And that brings us to step number
four where in Luke chapter 22 verse 42, Christ
says, "Father, if it is Your will, take this
cup away from Me. Nevertheless, not My will,
but Yours be done." Every morning I have to
remind myself to surrender. And step number
five, before we walk out of the door, we have
to remind ourselves of the fruit of the Spirit,
which is in Galatians chapter 5:22. "But the
fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,
self-control." This life isn't about perfection.
It's about daily correction, bro. And if you
