Transgender Lactation Safety and QCAT Vilification Decision Discussed
This is important because if you're asking questions,
biological-related questions, about how safe it is
for a biological male to take drugs
in order to lactate to feed a baby,
and I cannot believe we're even having this conversation,
but we are, and that person says,
well, you're vilifying me, Jasmine Sussex,
you are asking, well, okay, you think I'm vilifying you,
show us the evidence that what you are doing is safe.
That's exactly where we are.
And so I'm quite concerned about this decision
we got out of QCAT a few months ago,
saying that what processes this individual had followed
are not relevant,
what I said is what's relevant, because it's vilification.
But the problem is, you know,
without being too technical about it,
so it's only vilification if it's not done reasonably
in the public interest,
you know, for genuine concerns.
You're not criticising or making any comment
about this trans woman in any way,
shape or form about their appearance
or purporting to be a woman or anything.
Your comments relate to feeding an infant, and is that safe?
And what is involved in a woman breastfeeding an infant
as opposed to someone that is a biological male
taking drugs to feed a child?
Now, I ask you, you know, I'm not the expert, you are,
how does a man, a biological man,
produce enough lactating milk to feed a child?
Can they do it? Can they produce enough to feed a child,
Jesmyn? And is the milk they produce,
the quality and the volume
that you would get from a biological woman?
It's definitely not the volume.
It's very unlikely to be the quality, is the short answer.
